If you mean has it been released in Michigan, then no. Not til at least mid October according the Official Sims 2 BBS (they say Oct 17 thus far)

If you mean where the actual coding and testing is going on, it's happening in Redwood Shores, California. That's where the programmers and game designers work on the game and pelt each other for fun with Nerf foam darts from time to time (apparently).
Invited fansites came to come do sneak previews and some took pictures of the studios.

Hands down, the PC (Computer) version is the best. No holds barred! You get the best and most flexible gameplay, more options for hair and clothing styles, more downloads and crazy things like a Flintstone Shower Mammoth-- and you can get good at designing your own stuff. With pets make your own cats and dogs just the way you want them. For cheats and hacks, you get many of the benefits of original coding modifiers that the game testers themselves used.

The other versions are considerably more limited to prepackaging - what comes out of the box... sort of like Campbell's Tomato Soup if all you have to add to it is water.

And that's why the PC version has disadvantages... not all computers are gaming machines, not all can handle the enormous amount of programming in the Sims 2. Nearly all game players with Sims 2 experience weird glitches from time to time. Each EP adds more layers of complexity and demands more from the machine.

To test your machine to see if it can handle the sims games you want in the black box, pick the game (Pets isn't available for testing yet). If your machine can run Open for Business, and the recommended tab doesn't give any RED... then you have nothing to worry about.

I love the game. Highly recommend it for anyone with the machines that can handle it. Don't get it if the machine is not able to pass the tests because it will be a frustrating heartache.
