sortof, but not really. They do get kickbacks from HMOs to not offer certain tests, etc, in order to keep the insurance companys costs down.

So in a roundabout way, yes, but no not really.

The tests are expensive for the ins. companies, and so are the recurrent visits, etc, so there are certain tests that Drs are, I guess you can say, encouraged to not offer. Its best to be well informed about any and all possibilities to all conditions related to your symptoms, and always REQUEST the tests to be done, anyways.
Threaten to go somewhere else, if they dont do them.

Many pharmaceutical companies will offer free samples of meds to the doctors, which I think it pretty nice, overall, but some Drs will try to charge you extra for those, sometimes. Also, the pharm. companies do this to make an easy sell on whatever the remainder of the prescription is, as often times, you might get a small sample pack from the doctor, and a scrip for the remainder of the allotted amount you need.

Try using more natural and herbal medicine, because they can really help to keep you healthier, in the long run, and without causing you to have something "break" when something else is "fixed"... like, if you get migraines, and take some kind of meds for it, and the meds give you an ulcer, or acid reflux, or something... its just one thing after another, with traditional medicine, I tell ya what.......

I am a doctor, and I must be naive, but it seems that most of us would not take a kick back even if one were offered. The closest thing to a kick back would be a nice meal or a meeting in a nice location, but these were not based on prescribing habits, it was more or less to make people "feel good" about the drug company. Even these have stopped, and about the most any of us can expect is a lunch for the office from Boston Market, or the like.
Unfortunately, as in any group of human beings, there are probably a few bad apples, and ,most of us physicians would like to see them run out of the business as well. I and my colleagues take our ethical duties quite seriously, and still believe in the Hippocratic Oath.

YES That is the RX that they push on us. Ever been to see the DR. and someone in a suit comes in with this huge bag and they go right back. While you have been waiting for ever to see the Doc. That is a Drug Rep. who is giving the Doc. a demo and the perks of pushing there drugs on us. While we are still waiting to see the DR.

Depends on the doctor. There is a code of ethics to which we are supposed to adhere, so most doctors do not accept "kickbacks" anymore from drug companies for prescribing their medicines. Most of us try to be very careful to prescribe medications that are good for our patients, rather than good for the drug companies.

They don't get "kick backs" but alot of doctors get frequent visits from drug reps from different companies, and the reps supply alot of free samples and trial packets for patients.
That and some doctors will actually invest in certain drug company's stocks. They don't get kick backs, but they get higher stock payoffs.

yes, they get them in the form of perks, such as dinners, trips, etc. Read the book by Kevin Tredeau...it's great . It's all about the pharmaceutical & medical field..I don't usually like that kind of book, but it's really interesting...it's called "Natural Cures, what they don't want you to know"

Some do but if they are honest they don't in monetary ways. You hear alot about that but there has been a crack down in the past few years.

Nonsense. This is hogwash that the conspiracy theorists like to spread. But it doesn't happen, as a rule. The few "bad eggs" get caught and punished.

I can tell you, for a fact, that they do not. My mother has worked in many doctor's offices and never have any of the doctors recieved extra money for perscribing one drug over another.
