You lose a finger. More than likely, it will tear your finger completely off. I doubt that you will get pulled completely in. The disposal just isn't that big. But you will be in some serious pain, and will be short a finger.

The 'whole body ' thing is a myth, because the way a disposal works, is to grind up the garbage into even smaller particles. So there would be nothing of substance for the grinding barrels to grab onto and then pull ...said person into the disposal ( if they were in a grabbing frame of mind )Other thing that happens is that you'll save a lot of money never having manicures and not having to buy rings and so on...

If you have to ask this question, you don't belong anywhere near a garbage disposal in the first place. For that matter, stay out of the kitchen entirely before you have to ask "what hapens when I turn the oven on and stick my head in?", or "should I eat what's in the garbage can?" Really, leave the garbage disposal alone. Your typing is bad enough without the loss of a couple of fingers.

Yar fingas will friggin hert.

Your whole body will get pulled in and you will die. Yes, a little tiny garbage disposal can really do that. It's all over the news. It happens every day. Oh, and don't bend over when you have a tie on. It'll suck you right in. It's that powerful.

Come on people.... Really...

You'll probably get a bruise or other minor injury. A disposal is a glorified cheese grater. The "blades" are as sharp as a butter knife and are at the outside perimeter of the grinding chamber.

Interestingly enough nothing. A garbage disposal is high powared strainer. Food is not chopped, its flung really really hard against a screen. There little nobs on the bottom to fling the food, but it does not chop or create a vacuum.

It would tear up your fingers, but doesn't have anywhere near the power to suck your body in. Besides even if it did you'd get stuck in the drain, probably at your elbow but if not definatly at your shoulder. On top of that you'd probably be hospitalized for severe blood loss and trauma and sent to a mental hospital after that.

Well for one it would be a stupid thing to do and secondly why would one want to do that. But depending on the model some will have a automatic switch off for the size of item going in to it, well others would begin the process of chopping it up.

In the movie "Rolling Thunder", William Devanes character gets his hand shoved down the disposal by bad guys. Nasty scene. Try it out.

you cannot replace your fingers, but can always buy the new disposal unit from Home Depot. This time buy the one with the finger repellent features.
