Move in day is going to be really stressful and I can't tell you everything to expect (that's part of it: expect the unexpected). Basically, you are going to have to check-in at your residence hall and then unpack. Throughout the day, there will probably be a lot of people stopping by, including your Resident Advisor. You will probably have to go to a convaction ceremony of some sort at night where you are officially welcomed to the school. A lot of colleges have week long new student weeks (the school I go to does and it's really awesome), so be prepared to have a lot of information thrown at you along with meeting a lot of new people. You may get really stressed out, but remember, things are going to be awesome. Good luck with your first year of college!

Expect absolute chaos. People will be running all over the place and bumping into each other, fighting over carts, etc. Have your ID handy, since they will probably check it when you sign in to get your key. Get there 30 minutes before they officially allow you to move in. This will allow you to secure a decent parking space to unload. It may also allow you to sign in early, or at the very least, figure out where the elevators are, securing a cart or dolly to help move your stuff, etc. It will also give you dibs on what side of the room you want if you beat your roommate there :)

Chaos. No really, usually most colleges have a separate day (or days) for freshmen to move in. It will be the most and least organized day. You will most likely check in somewhere in the main lobby and they will tell you your room. But there will be thousands ok, maybe hundreds, of people with boxes trying to use the elevators - be patient. Some people immediately claim space in their room, but I would wait and discuss with roomies who gets which bed, etc. I kicked my parents out kinda early cuz I wanted to set stuff up myself. It is a hard, fun day of chaos.
Take pictures if you can and meet as many of your new neighbors as possible. Our college had social events and icebreakers for us to attend that evening. If your school has them- definitely go.

Move in a day before and u can escape the crowd. You might have to pay a small fee though so don't move in too many days ahead of time if you're broke.

What college are you attending? Are you staying in a dorm room? Community bathrooms or private? Roommates or not? It all depends.
