Hibernate with it? I don't know what you do. Are you sure it's hibernating? Are you sure it isn't dead? Have you checked it for a heartbeat or checked to see it it's breathing?

Turtles hibernate in response to instinct, shortening light cycles, decreaswe in food supplies, and temperatures. If it is hibernating now, something is terribly wrong. Check temps and diet.

When it is time, you can either hibernate them outside if you live in about the same habitat they want, or you can do it indoors under more controlled conditions.

Outdoors, you need to help them have a snug, dry, well-drained hiding spot below the frost line. Many keepers use a wooden barrel filled with clean leaves, sand, and so forth buried in the side of a hill so the tunnel can slope away from the barrel to improve drainage.

Indoors, you just need to find a suitably cool spot and put the sluggish turtle in an appropriate container and keep it at the right temp and humidity.

In either case, there is a pre- and post-hibernation checklist you'll want to go over. It will include things like a good health check, monitoring the conditions, etc.

The first site below has a couple good articles on hibernation, while the second is just a good box turtle site.

If you let your box turle get cold it will go into hibernation, if you keep it warm it will keep active . Set up a vivarium with heat and a UV lighting sytem and it will keep active all winter. Tutles only need to hibernate to survive cold winters because they are cold blooded. You will know that it is safe and well then and not worry about wether it is big enough to survive a long period of sleep.
One thing that turtles do need to hibernated for is if you are goingto breed them as the period of cold brings both the male and female in to brumation or season. They will then mate and the eggs will be laid about a month later. Advice on setting up a viv is available on my web site.

Leave some fresh water out and some of it's favorite foods. Although it's hibernating, sometimes your turtle will wake up for a little bit and when it does it will take in some food and water. Just watch your turtle everyday. Whatever you do, don't bother it unless you notice sometime odd.

let him hibernate. they start to come out of hibernation around mar or apr. i have 2 a tortise and box turtle. they go into hibernation around oct- nov. they come every once in a while to drink or eat, but most of the time they are just sleeping. if you don't let him hibernate, they can get sick because hibernation is like shots for dogs it keeps them healthy.

put it in a cool dark place above freezing tempature, make sure it,s not to wet or dry and leave it alone, however when the weather warms up for good bring it out a few degrees at a time. better yet take it out in a wooded area and let it go. they are very hard to keep over winter
