You are probably right, it might be a yeast infection. Go to the local chemist and buy a cream called 'Canesten'. It's an over-the-counter lotion you put on your vulval area. It cures thrush and any other NON-sexually transmitted fungal infections 'down there'. It says on the back of the tube how frequently to use it. It's cheap and very effective. Even if it's not thrush, it should stop the itching. But if the itching persists it would be a good idea to go see a female doctor, if your sister is confident enough to get things checked out.

Hope this helps,

The front of her vagina? It could be an irritation to the soap she uses, the laundry detergent, or even the fabric of her underwear. But she should check with a doctor to make sure it's not something more serious.

Yeast infections usually cause itching at the center of the vagina and you know you have it when there is a white discharge.

well I'm not a girl but Ive been reading on yeast infections.1st does she have white thick discharge, reddish on the area around the opening, pain when urinating, white patches on the skin. if so it was probably from her being to wet down there or clothes that are to tight and avoid underwear made from nylon and pantyhose they trap moisture. it can be brought stress pregnancy certain illness and medication. during puberty girls hormones change and can make them more susceptible to yeast infections. to prevent yeast infections try using unscented soap, avoid vaginal sprays and douches. try getting her wear cotton underwear with a cotton crotch that wont trap moisture or block air circulation.

she can develop yeast you should tell her to make sure she wipes really good. and she should talk to someone about taking her to the doctor because if it is yeast it will not clear up on it own she will be a medication. (some yeast medications are sold over the counter but I'm not to sure if they are good for a 13 yr. old)

It depends on lots of things...... Has she started puberty? If not its a definate possiblity. When is the last time she has taken a shower? If a couple days she needs to take one cuz it could just be that shes dirty is all.(< Not to sound rude) Also some soaps can irritate it if she has started using a new kind of soap.

No, if it is just teh front, I doubt it is a yeast infection hon.
I wouldn't be too surprised if it wasn't her hair starting to grow in.

Tell her she needs to wash it very well each day.
It could be when she urinates, she is not getting it all off and it is irratating the tender skin there.

Just have her wash it with some mild soap and water, and dry it well.
Have her get in between the folds of skin too, otherwise she will be starting all over again.

Good luck.

It could be a yeast infection. It could also be something else. My best advice is to see a doctor.
