the difference is in town u are sitting still, stopping and going. that uses more fuel then highway were ur engine can keep the same speed that is what cruse control was made for. some car makers are making it so ur engine can save fuel by turning off up to half of the cylinders to help save gas

City miles are the miles you make going between houses, and on streets with lights. These are called "byways". :highways" are like freeways, where its not so stop and go, and the speed limit is higher. You get better highway mileage, because you can go a little faster. Dont go too fast, cause that can burn alot of gas, too. Just stay within the speed limit, + or - a few, lol.

City miles, is because your sitting at stop lights or traffic alot, compared to driving on a highway in the middle of nowhere.

You already know. City mileage takes into consideration the braking and accelerations common to city driving. Highway mileage does the same, with lesser of both.

City miles are stop and go traffic which expends more gas. HIghway miles are constant movement and more efficient for gas mileage.

Whoever told you that was absolutely correct.
Highway is one speed usually - easier on your engine.
City is stop and go - harder on your engine.
