I am a foreigner and I notice several things about the mindset of the average Joe. I am a foreigner, I have a different mindset and success depends on what type of mindset you have. The average Joe:
- He is enslaved in the economic system. It is a victim: he reacts, he doesn't act.
- He is blind about his condition: he accepts too easily the fact that he has to work two jobs and to have plenty of debts and not have time with the family and time to travel.
- Because he is used with the system, he doesn't fight against it. He doesn't challenge it. Nothing changes unless you challenge it.
- He thinks that he owns something, but the bank owns everything: his house (if he has one), his car ... and the banks have the power.
- He is blind about his situation, because he doesn't travel a lot: the media teaches him about the world. If he can't travel and he is conditionned by the TV, he is slave in his mind ... he can't have a lot of new insights to be motivated to change his situation.
- He watches too much TV and doesn't read at all.
I come from France, so to me, this situation is not normal. I used to travel several times a year with one job. I don't even know what debts was. So when I came to America, I challenged the economic system: Money doesn't dominate me, I dominate money now. Banks don't own my stuffs, I own my stuffs because I dare to confront the system and refuse to live like the average American. I had this strenght because I learned the American economic system and I know his strenghts and weaknesses. Three years that I lived in America, I have my own house and a successful business.
I don't believe that opportunity knocks at your door, I believe that you create opportunity. And if you don't do anything for yourself in this country, you will be always a victim and I refuse to be a victim. I see the average Joe as a victim of the economic system.
I came with nothing. I didn't even know how to speak english but I was willing to learn everything to succeed.

Because they still have a good work ethic. And most foreigners are come to America to get away from poverty conditions in other countries. Plus, they haven't had the benefit of being ruined by the American culture that tells everyone they are entitled to wealth regardless of whether they work for it or not.

The Federal Government in their almighty power base, have made it so that foreigners do not pay tax for seven years.
They also are able to sell the business to a relative that we the tax payer pay for to come here and operate this for yet another seven years tax free.
If one does not have to pay any tax what so ever. Then they would be able to amass quite a large fortune in relatively no time what so ever.
Also Banks know this and will bend over backwards to give them the funding to keep getting bigger and bigger.

Not that there's any one answer, but a lot of people come from poor countries that have no opportunities for wealth or success and appreciate the opportunities that we have here. They are willing to work hard for what we take for granted.

Because they strive to suceed here and consider it a great opportunity. Here we think we are owed everything. They learn that work will get you far in other cultures and we just make excuses for or failures and or education system sucks.

I thought about that question many of times. And what I came to realize is that the U.S. is like an unfair parent who would rather take better care of someone else's child better than their own!
