First day in the office, slacks, blouse and jacket - knowing the jacket or sweater can go if the office is too cool - nothing very open until you know what "others" are considering casual. Heels can be left at 2" until you know if that's going to be considered too low or too high - those are good averages - you might even choose a mid-calf skirt until you see what the "others" are considering office casual - I've seen office casual be jeans and t-shirts to dress and hose - depending on the work place - which you didn't mention the type of business. So, slacks is almost always an acceptable.

Business Casual -

No jeans, no tee shirts, no sweatshirts, no running shoes, no althletic socks, no shorts, no words of any kind on your clothing, no flip flops, no tank tops (unless layered), clothes must be in good repair, probably no bare legs, shoes should be nicely polished (not scuffy and old).

Wear a black skirt with a nice top (maybe a cute light sweater).
Capris/ gauchos would be good if they are dressy. Be ultra conservative the first few days until you see what the other people are wearing...also dress 2 levels above your level (ie if you are an administrative assistant - dress like a senior manager or director (even VP)). It doesn't mean you have to be frumpy.

I always check www.instyle.com.

business enterprise casual recommend no denims what so ever(until eventually it rather is gown down day). yet on a similar time meaning you could positioned on gown pants, button down shirts, skirts yet be careful of the lenght (some human beings think of any variety of skirt will do yet that may not authentic),and that i observed that somebody stated wait until eventually you get on the interest and notice what human beings positioned on do no longer try this throughout the time of any respect reason being is that the human beings at your interest has been there longer than you have and additionally they have greater pull then you certainly, so they are able to get away with greater beneficial than you could.. sturdy luck and Congrats on the recent interest each and every thing would be ok.....

Dressy, but not necessarily a suit. Business causual means dresses/skirts/dress pants/dress shirts/nice sweaters/etc. No jeans (unless they have a casual Friday or something), no t-shirts, no sandals, etc.

Yep, dockers, with a belt, and dress shoes..a polo shirt or a short sleeved dress shirt.

For women, about the same thing, except if you wear a dress keep it below the knee, and probably not open shoes

Ladies- nice khakis (not cargos!) and and a nice blouse with a pair of heels (not super spikey or wild colors). Once you get to work you will see how other people dress and you can dress accordingly. It is alway sbetter to over dress at first.

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Dress like you think the president of the company would.

"In general, business casual means dressing professionally, looking relaxed yet neat and pulled together."

It should not look like cocktail or party or picnic attire. Avoid tight or baggy clothing; business casual is classic rather than trendy.
