the filter is for your phone so your calls are seperated from the data that comes through.
your dsl needs to go through a cat 5 cable into your computer so there must be a DSL modem your not plugging the "Unfiltered" phone line through then use the cat 5 to go to your computer to get the dsl connection.

A cat 5 cable is a 8 pin cable that goes from the DSL modem to your computer the tip uses an RJ-45 connecter which has 8 pins in it. the standard phone line is a RJ-11 which only has 4 pins in it, you notice the difference in size when you look at them side to side... if not just look at the tip of the cable itself and count the pins.

Call your DSL provider and explain the problem. I'm sure they will offer the correct solution if there is one.

You pay for DSL service so it's up to them to see that you get what you are paying for.
