Totally depends on what care was taken by the owner! If someone rodded the h out of it and never checked the oil as opposed to an owner who took good care of it what do you suppose the outcome will be?

There might be a small difference in the way the jeeps are set up. One could have taller highway gears in the differential. One could be fuel injected and the other carbureted. maybe one has a clean air filter and the other does not. Fresh oil instead of old worn out oil can improve mileage. If one is using synthetics there would be a small difference. If there are different drivers for each vehicle there will be a difference. If there is different drivers, are they fudging? I had an employee who claimed to get 35 mpg, but at the same time, complained it took X amount of gas to go from one city to the next. He obviously over estimated his mileage and should have realized he only probably got maybe 20 mpg.

The engines are slightly different, if one has a smaller firing chamber, then it'll be stronger. Also, the rings do not wear exactly the same, so you may have blow by to the more worn of the 2.
