When you have time, watch this
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/architect/view/
Karl Rove says OUT LOUD that he uses hate to motivate the republican party to vote.

There is something wrong with someone who finds that acceptable and does not see the harm to society to motivate hate and prejudice just to win politically.

(I'm serious. Watch that. He says that and he has used it in 3 elections to win)

As I've said here before, participation on this site is mostly anonymous. That fact alone practically encourages uncivil (or even abusive) behavior.

A few years ago someone launched the first website whereby you could deliver an untraceable, anonymous (but usually offensive) e-mail message to anyone. (see link below for an example of one site)

Example: "Try using deodorant...your BO is making us all sick!

Anyway, it must have been a needed service, because now there are numerous imitators. In some ways, what goes on here at YA is similar.

It tells me that a lot of people want to be pretty nasty but don't have the chutzpah to do it other than anonymously.

That's pretty sad, pretty undisciplined, and often very nasty. And yes, unfortunately, I'm afraid it's also pretty American.

Just listen to talk radio, or rap music lyrics, or an interview with any one of dozens of spoiled pro athletes these days.

Free speech!

What do you consider a true American? That could be your disconnect.
I happen to think that all those opposed to us being over in the middle east are not looking out for America's (& the western world's) interest in the long run. All you hear is how many people have died, no WMD's, over there for oil (LOL). If we do not halt the terrorists now, we are looking at a life more like the Israeli's live everyday. People don't get that the terrorist and radicals don't want to "talk" about things. They want the INFIDELS (that would be you and me and anyone else that does not follow their religion) DEAD, as they have flat out said numerous times. They will not stop killing us just because we pull out of Iraq. Plus, we would be creating a perfect breading ground for the terrorists if we pulled out now. So, don't give me all this peace and happiness crap when me and mine are being threatened. I want my kids to have the ability to grow up in an America that we all got to grow up in (one not concerned with terrorism). The best thing we can do right now is to do everything possible to foster democracy in Iraq. That would be the beginning of the "end of the terrorists world as they know it and that makes me feel fine".

I dont know about all that. The first settlers in this country came here with the doctrine of love and understanding of indian culture. That is why they had no problem building houses on thier land and bringing god to this godless country. Also, when the indians refused to live in houses and wear clothes the settlers were nice enough to give them free blankets. Sounds like a raw deal.

Some people were not taught the courtesy of respecting those that gave their lives to build this nation and to protect this nation. They dare dishonor our president on a whim. They do not know how to express themselves tactfully when disagreeing with others; and friend, hopefully these individuals will mature to a point where they see even the faults of American society in a positive light.

No, republicans are not true americans. They claim to love America, and that they support the war in iraq, to spread freedom. Too bad there were no WMDs in iraq. Republicans claim that they support the war, but only a small percentage of the voters have gone to iraq. How's that for true Americans?

A true American obeys a president without thinking? Are presidents prefects or it's just propaganda?
