You need to specify if you want quantitative or qualitative. They are two different things. To be really, really brief, quantitative research yields numerical results (ex: there were 83ppt PBB in the river water sample). Qualitative research is not as based around numbers and more so around concepts (ecosystem health, etc.)

Quantitative research measures something about biology that comes in numbers and not qualities like colors or shapes. Height, weight, days to sprout seeds, etc are quantitative.

Do you mean quantitative? That is anything you can take measurements of. example: pick two groups that share a common trait. Like hair color. Then count how many blond, how many brown. This is simplified but it is the basic idea
