Somebody just watched the Great Dictator, Chaplin's first talkie!
Great movie, amazing how he paradied the way Hitler treated the jews and lust for power. The fact that Chaplin played both a jewish barber, AND the dictator hints at the long held theory that Hitler himself might have been at least part jewish. Also the fact that the movie came out in 1940, before the U.S. entered WWII, and showcased how Hitler treated the jews is pure irony!

I don't think that Chaplin was much of a stateman.
His world views were ahead of the times. I do think he dressed a bit better than Hitler and I think he had a better array of comic stunts than Hitler. Hitler did the arm thing and Chaplin did much more than that.
Chaplin also communicated better in the silent movies whereas Hitler relied on his oratory skills.
I don't think Chaplin ever played to the size crowds that Hitler played to (like many Panzer divisions at the same time), but I think he was certainly capable in doing so.
I don't think that Hitler was ever booed after his rise to fame as it would have been a bad thing for the "booer" so to speak. Chaplin never had the wherewithal to eliminate a heckler as did Hitler.
In the end, I do not think they resembled each other much but perhaps Germany and the world would have fared better had Chaplin been the leader of Germany rather than Hitler.

This moustache is most famous for having been worn by film star Charlie Chaplin and later by dictator Adolf Hitler. Chaplin took advantage of this unlikely similarity between the two men for his role in The Great Dictator. The style is now unpopular due to its strong association with Hitler.

No, it was the other way round. Chaplin was making a decent living by NOT speaking in movies long before the other guy came along and was kind of difficult to shut up.

Phisically, they both had silly little moustaches and black hair.
Chaplin was opposed to Hitler - his film The Great Dictator was an anti-Hitler statement.
And Chaplin was not a fool.
