why most western people hate muslim people?

I'm surprised to see how many of the answers so far seem to tacitely agree with the assumption that Western people hate Muslim people.

I do not personally know of one single person who hates Muslim people, and I live in the USA. Then again, I live in New York City, where everybody is liberal and loves everybody. Well... that's an exaggeration. However, New York is a very liberal state. We're overwhelmingly Democrats... i.e., the people who did NOT vote for Bush. (Ironically, NYC was targeted by Muslim terrorists!) I also have friends who are Muslim, and therefore understand that Muslims and terrorists are completely different things.

At times it may only SEEM to me that nobody hates Muslims, because I never meet people who hate Muslims in the area where I live.

People who hate Muslims and Arabs are what we call "racist" and "bigots". In the USA, racist bigots tend to live in more rural areas and have less education and intelligence. Some people are racist bigots simply because they are old, and from a generation where such things were more common and acceptable. Unfortunately, I could not say for certain that these types of people do not account for "most" people in the USA.

However, in my opinion, most Western people do NOT hate Muslim people. There is a small, stupid and loud minority of people who do.

On the other hand, it's very easy for me to see why some Westerners might hate Muslims. After all, there are a lot of Muslims in this world who are calling for the destruction of the West. If somebody wants to kill or terrorize you, then there is a tendency to hate them.

All we see (on Western television) are bad things about Muslims. We see that they hate us, want to terrorize us, and are willing to kill our innocent civilians.

Unfortunately, people react to this with hatred. They are unable to differentiate between terrorists and Muslims, because they simply do not know anything else about the Muslim culture.

just as a majority of muslims are kind, sane, peaceful people, a majority of westerners are the same, and, thus are not intolerant. however, just as a minority, hopefully very small, of muslims think it is o.k. to kill any and all non muslims merely because they are non muslims, a minority of westerners hate muslims. but, it is definitely incorrect to say that MOST western people hate muslims.

Because of 9/11, and because the only Muslim people we know are the ones on TV shouting hatred toward the west.

Maybe if we knew more of the kind Muslims, then we would change our mind.

Well I'm not one that does. Because of the minority of muslim people here,most people haven't had the chance to meet one. If they had they would think differently. Sorry to say,there are alot of narrow minded people in this world. I dispise predjuduce people.

I don't hate Muslim people, but there is alot to be said about a religion that believes that anyone not of your religion should be terminated! After all in my religion we have the Ten Commandments and one of them is "Thou shall not kill"!
