My friend is worried that his ex who has just got a job in Barclays might start looking at his account - I doubt she can do anything with the info but he don't want her having personal details about his finances.
Can Cashiers/customer advisors access bank account transactions/details without having your account number and sort code?
Can they look up your account by just your surname, address and date of birth?

I work for barclays. You can access accounts with surname, initial and postcode. However all they would be able to look at is balances. However....if they get caught looking at other peoples details, you can be arrested. If they are concerned that this is happening, you can actually go into a Barclays Branch,(best going to one where this person doesnt work) and speak to the manager. They can actually have a look on the system and check when the accounts were looked at. They can check the dates, times and the member of staff that looked at it. Just stress that there is no way they will get away with it if they are doing it. Hope that helps. Any further questions just mail me on spindal2001@yahoo.co.uk

Sure if she works there depending on her work schedule she could get access to the account and it is no crime it is in her line of duty. Maybe by now she knows the details already. If he is really bothered then he should just close the account and open an account with a different bank. that is the only way you can avoid her. Good luck

large companies such as Barclays will make all employees aware that it Is against company policy to access someones account without their authority, it is in breach of the data protection rules. if you find out that this person has accessed the account then they will be punished for gross misconduct. most computer systems used by companies have an I.D. of each person who has accessed you details so it can easily be traced if someone has accessed the details without the account holder authorising it first.
ask you friend to call the bank on occasions and they will let him know.

i think so...my bank have been able to get my account details when i have lost my card with my name, dob and address.
Barclays is a bank on the down anyway, my dad recently switched from them after nearly 30 years. I would suggest Halifax/bank of scotland as a bank of choice, as they have always been more than helpfull and my money has never gone missing...unlike some of my other friend money who are with other highstreet banks.

She would get into a hell of a lot of bother. Get your mate to have a word with the bank. She'll be monitored anyway - to make sure they don't look into any records they shouldn't.
