If you don't have a vaporizer or a humidifier, try this:

1. Blow your nose *really* well (that's where it's generating).
2. Grab a kitchen stool or seat of equal height.
3. Grab a huge towel & toss it over your head.
4. Run the hottest water possible in your bathroom sink, sit, and breathe the steam for 20 minutes, under the tent of the towel.

WARNING: Do not breathe so much steam you pass out. Take a break every few minutes to breathe outside the tent of your towel but return to the steam as much as is safely possible.

This will thin out the mucus so that it is easier to blow your nose without the insane pain in the sinuses. If you do this properly, you'll not even need to blow, just keep a tissue handy because it will all just drip out of your nose, hence preventing it from going down your throat.

Follow this with drinking hot tea with lemon and honey to thin whatever may be left in your throat, and some toast if you can stomach it (to change the ratio of mucus ingested).

And don't forget to Lysol everything you touch so that you get better soon!!

Good luck.

Do you have a cold or is this a sinus issue?

If it's from a cold here's a tip that has always worked for me. Take an old sauce pan. One that you will not need anymore. Fill it up with water and put on the stove. Allow the water to come to a boil. When it begins to boil put a tablespoon or so of Vicks Vapor Rub in it. Allow it to melt. Reduce heat. When water stops boiling and it's not so hot, place your face a short way from the pot. Breath in and out through your nose. Do this several times. Then breath in and out through your mouth. Repeat this as many times as you would like. I have found that when i have really bad colds that this helps me out a lot. Just use common sense on placing your face too close to the pan, especially with boiling water. You wouldn't want to get scalded by the water. You can also use a vaporizer, but I have found that the first method works better for me. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

cough it up. Just keep making sounds like 'cggaha;lkjafhgalk' and spitting it out. Don't swallow it, that just makes it worse and it comes back later anyways.

try these two things. One. First thing In the morning before eating put juice of 1 lemon in glass of water and drink. Two. In the bathroom before showering put one teaspoon of salt in small glass of water, popur into tghe cup of your hand, hold your head back and draw the salt water through your nose so that it drains back into your throat and spit out

Maybe you should try taking a non-prescription decongestant. Or go see your doctor - it sounds like you either have allergies or an upper respiratory infection, and either may require treatment.

I have that problem sometimes, too.

over-the-counter Mucinex helps a lot.

If that doesn't cut it, you might have a sinus infection that may require antibiotics.
