They probably just don't understand the toll of your mom having a stroke and bad past experiences. Maybe even think you are deliberately making yourself depressed to get attention. But no you are not less of a person for not working, you are just going through some really hard times right now. And if you bf understands that, then thats all that matters. Screw everyone else, they don't know you or your situation. Bottom line they are on the outside looking in.

I think you are deeply depressed. And you need to do something now before this problem gets worse. I can Understand how you feel.

My life has not being easy either, but I have always have to work and do my own money because my family can't helped me. Is really difficult to try to have a normal life when you feel that you are not on control of your life.

First thing you need to do is start doing the normal things you used to do even if you don't feel like it. You need to wake up every morning and be functional and use full, if not, even your boy friend can get tired to see you depressed all the time and run away.

People on Depression do not understand people around suffer too and get depressed too to see the one they love in a deeply pain and depressed. They run away not because they get mad or because they don't care. They run away because they could not handle with the person on depression. Is the instinct to protect our selves to get hurt. Understandable and Natural human reaction.

That's why you need to try to be functional again, move your *** from the house and go out, breath, do excersise, look for a job. And most important dear, find professional help.

Professionals can help us to come out of the depression but we need to accept we need help and we need to really want to come out of this.

I know is hard dear, but not impossible.

Good Luck

Work has never been known to define how bad or good a person is. I personally do not think there is something wrong with not working for as long as you can sustain yourself without being a burdain to your friend. I think the poeple who think you are bad just because you are not working have a problem. As to the depression plz find some help for it before it becomes your way of life.

i was depressed and didn't work for awhile but you NEED to get out. Even if its a part time job, when your depressed its better to be around people or you will just go nuts. Not working doesn't make you less of a person, but maybe it makes you a less useful person. Whether you get paid or not its good to be out doing something and not wasting your days away in depression.

get a part time job and see how it goes, sell stuff on ebay. do something. no it dont make you less of a person, do you and your boyfriend have a child together? I can understand why you stay home. Dont worry about what other people think, as long as your boyfriend is ok with it dont worry about it, but you should put a timeline on yourself to get yourself back together, but if you are on disability I wouldnt worry about it at all, if you are not able to work, youre not able. if you are helping to pay what bills you can then you are paying your way dear, dont worry about what others think.

Sometimes people can be harsh and don't understand when someone is going through a hard time. Just keep focused on making your self better. Your not less of a person just try and keep in mind what good qualities you do have.

If you can physically work and are not and living off of the state then you are a disgrace... but if you are having mental problems that make it hard for you to concentrate then you need to see someone because that really isn't a life... good luck

Obviously your boyfriend doesn't mind working. So why worry about these things. But as far as you are concerned we all get depressed at times but you can't learn to ride a horse if you get bucked off and never try again.

I think it depends what kind of work you have to do. If you like your job it will make your life much better; try something new. Not many people are happy slacking even if they won the lottery.
