It depends on how they induce you and your hospital's policies.
At my hospital, if we use the prostin gel for induction, we send you home for the evening and then you come back the following day to be rechecked. The gel is used when the cervix is still long and thick. It may be needed up to 3 times before the cervix is favorable.
If they decide to induce you by oxytocin drip or breaking your waters, you will be admited into the hospital and stay until the baby is born.
Good luck

You will definitely be staying the night! With my youngest of my 4 children, I was induced at about 11:00 a.m. and she was not born till 12:30 or so that night! When they induce you it is very hard labor, and it seems to take a long time!
I don't know if this is your first baby, I am assuming so, but if you could get them to wait till the baby is ready, and not induce you that would probably be the best thing! I am no doctor but from personal experience, it is alot easier if the baby comes on his/her own terms!
I wish you the best of luck, God bless and I hope you enjoy your new baby!

I went past my due date too, and we decided to schedule an indution. We scheduled it for 4 days away. They'll probably send you home, and have to come to the hospital at a certain time, maybe that evening or the next morning. I was to go on a Thursday eveneing, get checked in, and the induction was going to be early Friday morning.
To be safe, though, go ahead and put your hospital bag(s) in the car.
Good luck!

Depending on how far past due you are the condition of the baby, you might get induced.
Some Doctors (especially Midwifes) like to have the baby come when it's ready so they usually wait before inducing.
I was late for both of my children and had to be induced.
I wish you the best of luck :)

Typically a baby is born within two weeks on either side of the due date. Very few babies are born on their due date (I was, though, LOL).
If they induce, count on spending a few days there. My mother had to be induced with my sister, who was 3 weeks late. Four hours of really hard labor, she said.

If they plan on inducing you, you will more than likely stay.
They will need to monitor the babys heart beat, and your contractions, etc.
Normally when they induce labor, they will give you some pitocin, to kick start contractions, after a whle if you water hasn't broken, they will break it, causing labor to progress.
They will definatly need to monitor your babys heart beat to look for signs of stress.
Relax, enjoy your last night, your gonna be a mommy tomorrow!
CONGRATZ!!

if you are induced, you will probably spend the night. even with inducement, it may take hours to actually start labor and labor itself can take several hours. and even if you deliver quickly, most patients stay overnight after delivery.
