There ARE more scams out there than legitimate work at home jobs. Consider your own business from home where you can set your own hours and be responsible for your own income. Why work for 10-20% commission when you can have 100%??? Now, what are your strengths??? Let's get a business plan going.

closest thing I've seen (to being something real) is a friend who did medical billing work from home. She got certified, then worked for a year or more in a medical office, then got the office to send her her work at home. . .
other than that --I know of http://www.cafepress.com/ (not sure how much you could make but something at least. may take work to get people to find your page to buy your items.) it's a company that makes and distributes products by a picture you supply. costs nothing to start up with them. plus they make as it gets sold so no inventory left over.
also I know a guy who's wife sells on ebay through wholesalers --you do the sales, they ship out the product and do the inventory (this is a little bit of work to set up but you can make some real money): here's a book I've found to help with finding the sources: What to sell on Ebay and Where to get it. isbn: 0-07-226278-8

Yes it can really be done. It does cost to start a home based business I have spent several hundred on some programs. Here is one that has a really low startup cost. What is really amazing is that you don't have to sponsor anyone to become qualified to earn commissions. This is still in pre-launch so get in early to maximize your earning.
