Let me clarify what I mean by color struck. Color struck refers to the idea that what is lighter is better. For example, fair skin black women are considered more beautiful. Please note that in the BET top 25 shades of fine, the lighter the skin the higher placement of the list.

Look at all the video vixens.

Why is that?

A great majority of negative actions and behaviors of African Americans can easily be related to one reason-----"the slave mentality". Color was important during slavery times because your skin color could determine your position (house vs field) or status. There was such a thing called the brown paper bag test. Not to imply you can't fall in love outside your race, but it's that same slave mentality that has some black men so in awe of fair/white women. During slavery, white women were completely off limits for black men, and he could be killed just for looking. So now to have a white woman is sort of a trophy or prize in his eyes. There is not enough space here to type, but the majority of African Americans problems, including not having black love, correlates to that slave mentality.

I think when white America wouldn't accept blacks they did what all people do and looked for their dignity not in their American identity but somewhere else that seemed safer--their African identity. I think that even by the using the term it helps to keep everybody color stuck.

I want to recommend a book, it's not about black Americans, but about the Palestinian Arabs and Jews, Christians and Muslims, and Druze and there difficulties. It opened my eyes
to what it takes to get over being color struck or stuck .

It's better that people call each other by name. Eliminates a lot of problems immediately. If you want to describe someone's ethnicity, DESCRIBE it. In this case: (person(s) most of whose ancestors are light brown to dark brown skinned people with typically slightly to VERY curly hair indigenous to Africa, in many cases the Western part who were kidnapped by a variety of people, some times mixed with European and indigenous paler skinned Americans, and forced to work for ~200 years without pay with bad treatment on the American continent, and who people are still confused on how to name.) If THAT's too wordy, write about a less complex subject.

maybe it's becuase we don't want to be considered white or any other race. Black people probably want to make sure, since they were forced to come here, that they stand out.
