Let the clutch out a little very slowly without giving it any gas. This will actually make the car go forward just a bit and then you can give it gas.

Basically, what you want to do is push the accelerator down a little more than you normally would and let the clutch out a little more quickly than you normally would.

To get this right, I practiced on a hill and pretended a car was behind me. Then I tried to time the clutch and accelerator movements so that I was able to start up immediately without rolling backward.

If you practice it enough times, you'll get it. Good luck!

Don't panic. Manual transmission driving gets easier the more you drive. Keep your right foot on the brake and your left foot ready to push in the clutch. When the light turns green, push in the clutch, put in gear, let go of the brake and slowly push the gas until you are moving fast enough to accelerate even more.

what I always did was "ride the clutch" Let the clutch out just enough to where you begin to feel the car pull. At the same time you'll have to have your foot on the gas to keep it from dying.
You can also set the parking brake, and when it's time to move, let out on the clutch like always while you're releasing the parking brake.

Slowly let the clutch out until you feel it start to grab,or the engine start to bog down, but not move. If you're clutch is in good shape,it should hold you on the hill. It takes a little practice but its really easy, just be care full not to stall.usually though you don't have to let the clutch out very much before it starts to grab.Good luck :]

What I do is balance the car so that it neither going backwards nor forward using both the clutch and gas petal. Once you the car is balanced and you begin to take off again just give it a little more gas and come off the clutch nice and easy and it won't roll back.

Keep the car in 1st. Keep your foot on the brake and your other foot on the clutch. Let out the clutch just enough to hold the car. Then quickly remove your foot from the brake and depress the gas/let out the clutch.

If you have a manual parking brake(lever on your side) hold it on until you start to release the clutch. Otherwise, you need to partially release the clutch to hold you in place before you take your foot off the brake. You'll get it with some practice.

Let the clutch slip just enought to hold still. You can also push the clutch in and hold the brake. This gets a lot easier with practice practice practice.

If you have a problem with timing with the clutch, use the emergency brake to hold you still until you can get the clutch engaged high enough.
