YES you are probably in labor...early labor unless the contractions are so intense that you cannot carry on a normal conversation with someone without whispering. It sounds almost like you're losing your mucous plug, which if that happens, your water will break pretty quickly after that, so you really should go get checked out.

Pack your bag, honey, cuz you're having that baby within the next 24 hours is my guess, and I've had 3 kids.

If you're 3 cm and having hard, painful contractions, you're IN labor. Probably the early stages of labor. Time your contractions. When they get to 5 min. apart and don't seem to be lessening or slowing down, get to the hospital.

uh yeah. I am also currently 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. That discharge you speak of is probably your mucus plug. It doesn't matter if your contractions are "hard", what matters is the duration and pattern of them. If they get to be 5 minutes apart, then you need to call your hospital or doctor (during hours), and let them know. You could go into labor tonight, or next tuesday, who knows.

properly i'd say which you're very close to to labor with loosing the plug... I lost mine at 39 and 3 and my son became into born 39 and six. So 3 days for me yet each and every being pregnant is diverse... if your cervix is comfortable and you're efacing then your probability is rather stable which you will in the subsequent 5 days or so! intercourse rather does help this technique!! stable luck!

I'd say you're in the early stages of labour now. If the contractions get bad enough that you cannot speak through them, and are closer than 5 minutes apart (consistently for an hour) then go to the hospital, you're in labour!
