It all depends on conditions, and what your offroading on. Open dirt field and such you can go fast, but maybe map over your area to drive, to make sure there isn't a surprise ditch or something.

Most people see cars flying thru the air at high speed off road. This will do two things dammage suspension and cause a wreck because brakes don't stop to well on loose surfaces. If you really want to learn of road saftey "tread-lightly" Jeep School or other off road clubs you will be amazed what a 4x4 can do at 5 miles an hour or less

hmmmm.... going faster vibrates things faster that's for sure. I wouldn't want to lose of a suspension. Whats your goal here? I don't think gravel roads are off/roading. If you have to avoid a tree and huge ditches or rocks that's off roading. The problem with driving fast on gravel is that other cars use the road and, they create small close together bumps across the road. If you hit a patch of them at to high a speed then you will really be off roading. I think it really depends a lot on what your driving too. My truck is harder to control on gravel at high speed while my car does fine. either way if you to rough you will break something. Trust me I know lol. Just rebuilt my front end on my 4x4. Then I sent a shock through the fender well. OPPS

its better to drive slow trust me ive lived on dirt roads all my life ... if you have the patience .... i love to hear people explaining how that going fast smooths out the suspension and all that nonsense ... then a few months later they are replacing every front end suspension and steering linkage lol... yep slow is better .... but i used to have this old 78 camaro i could cut a corner on a dirt road going in at 75mph .... it was a blast ... sideways dust everywhere ... blew out the tires half the time .. i always kept two spares :)

since you're talking offroad, i would for myself drive slow. otherwise i'd be driving on a hiway. and loosening your suspension might give you a little softer ride.

You should drive slower because there is less impact loading on the suspension and it will last longer.
