Your question reminded me of something Mark Twain said, " If you don ' t read the newspaper , you are uninformed ; if you do read the newspaper , you are misinformed . " I think this pretty much sums up everuthing about news.

News is about sensationalising - covering subjects like war and destruction to gory details. Probably this happens because the media managers think that's how the viewers remain glued to the television. But many news channels also cover subjects like science and technology, sports, interviews with actors and authors etc.
On the whole, I would say channels cover both discouraging and inspirational stories. Although, I wish they cover more of inspirational news.

its so repetetive, since the written word, her murders, her thefts her adulteries.. was that him? money is the answer to everything, and the moneytree wins again, you are so right noone ever says, much about what's honest or virtuous or generous,
newspapers just sound the alert, like, murderers on the loose..but they never say, boy look whose turned into a lovely young woman, or I can't believe how wonderful your son is after the dickens he was last time he visited..you are so right.
