use hedge apples, they are non poisonous to children and people but spiders hate them and wont come anywhere near them. I have always been told that they keep spiders out of your house. you can put them around your house or use them on the inside. I'm pretty sure you can buy them but they grow off of trees, depending on where you live you may be able to find some. They are green and color and are sort of bumpy looking, they dont look like real apples. I know a lot of people who have used them including myself and they seem to be affective!

Stop attracting the bugs that the spiders eat. Keep outside lights turned off, make sure that the downspouts take water away so the foundation stays dry.
Personally, I like the spiders. They eat the other bugs which fly around and bite me.

Have you ever seen those "hedge balls" or whatever they are called? They are these green looking shrilveled up things...they work in our basement, and it says they are for outdoor use as well.
