already replaced the expansion valve

i replaced the expansion valve and evacuated the system and recharged but it still doesnt blow cold in the rear.the front blows cold.does the diaphram in the rear have anything to do with it blowing cold through the rear vents.

The rear A/C unit uses a seperate evaporator core from the front unit, but the same compressor. You may have a blend door problem in the rear unit, or a bad blend door actuator. Also remember the 98 Windstar will only blow A/C out of the ceiling vents and heat only from the rear floor vents, this has confused some customers in the past.

My local Ford dealer wanted $750 to fix this on my family's 96' Econoline van with rear A/C. Said was something in the dash control switch. Stomp on the gas and the front air vents don't blow. Just made me mad as hell! Everybody that road in the back just complained about how hot it was constantly.
My $10 dollar fix was to put a water valve in the inline heater hose to the back of the van. (Located under the air cleaner, dial left or right) Summer driving, I turn off the water that goes back there.
In the winter, you just turn it back on and everybody that complained about how cold it was back there was, again, happy.

Did you replace the expansion valve in the Rear unit also?

check the temperature on both heater hoses going to the rear unit after the engine has warmed up and a/c on if they are both hot you need to buy a restriction valve at the auto parts for about $5.00 and install it in the heater hose to restrict the coolant from going to the heater core which is next to the evaporator and may be getting it hot and causing warm air to blow out.

looks like the line for the rear ac is blocked.
