OK, my car was stolen and they basically broke my ignition switch. Luckily the police found my car and it was still running and they eventually had to shut the car off. When i got there i was told to take the car home since they found it. Did all paper work n stuff then i had to try n start with screwdriver and it didnt want to start. So next couple days my cousin and i checked the battery, install new ignition switch in and checked all fuses and they are working. The only way we got to make the engine go on was to compression start it, which worked. Was there something i missed or any of u know wat i can do to find out?

First of all, most likely you replaced the key switch on your steering column. There is a difference. If it has been treated that roughly most likely you have an alignment problem. Here is how the ignition switch works. You have the key switch with tumbler in the steering column where you put the key in and try to start the car. At the back of the switch there is a metal rod which can be bent if treated roughly. This rod runs through the steering column downward toward the bottom of the column where it snaps into the actual ignition switch. There are two screws holding the ignition switch on your column. If you take them out and turn the switch sideways about 90 degrees, the rod will fall out where you can pull the switch out enough to check it. you can use a screwdriver to put into the hole where the rod fits in and slide it to the on position. Then push it farther forward. It is spring-loaded and can be a little hard to do but make sure you push it all the way. Most likely it will crank from the switch. The slightest bend in the rod or the ignition switch will let the ignition and acc positions work but until the rod pushes the switch all the way won't push into the start position. The starter is a possibility but not likely. The other thing to check is if they had trouble trying to start the car when it was taken they could have tried to bridge something over and blew a fuse or fusible link in your harness. Again, most likely the ignition switch and rod need adjustment.

Most likely when they broke your ignition switch, they must've broken a wire to the start cycle of the switch, or wire at least. Check under the steering column, and such to like what #2 answer stated. Probably needs a new wire to the switch.

Look at the starter motor and the small wire is the solenoid wire did it become disconnected at the starter . Put car in neutral ingnition key in run posistion run a wire from battery positive to that small wire connector on starter side does it crank and start? If so now you have to back track test the crank/starter wire to the back of the ingnition switch Did that year have a clutch switch? Jumper wire the two terminal at that switch connector to test that switch.

What style/3 hundred and sixty 5 days? an rather good type of manufacturers do no longer recommend washing the engine, exceptionally with extreme stress, as there is an rather good type of electronics less than the hood. you likely drowned between the modules, with water seeping slowly into it. This explains why the vehicle began, yet died on you in a lengthy time period. seem of any displaced modules, and seem at any staqnding water round them. you may opt to apply compelled air to chase the water out, yet back be careful, you may merely stress more effective water into mushy elements.

Forget about it...think serious selling it...do not trust any of these garage experts who know everything on how they will make it work perfect without looking at past damages...
My experience says so...I used to be a taxi driver.
