Las Vegas , as we know it , is in the heart of Nevada. The Hoover Dam lies between Nevada and Arizona. The Colorado River stretches into Hoover Dam up to the Gulf of Mexico. Adjacent to Nevada is Arizona ,then New Mexico. Below Arizona is Utah And below New Mexico is Colorado. So there's no way, New Mexico is close to Nevada.;to even confuse their proximity, much less their geography. .

I flew Air Canada, Calgary to Houston, and our pilot got confused. He's like, "everybody look out your window, on your right you'll see Las Vegas, a popular tourist spot".
And the passengers are like "what the hell, why are we over Nevada, thats 500 miles off course" and a couple minutes later he comes on the speakers again "uhh, make that Las Vegas, New Mexico"
