If you're going with a button down shirt, don't wear a vest. Wear a nice sports blazer.

Don't wear a vest...maybe pair a nice tie with the shirt or a blazer.

sure, as long as it looks good--so long as you chose designs/colors that aren't gaudy/disgusting, I've done it and it looked pretty damn good on me
