I need one for an audition and I really can't find any. Any help at all would be great, thanks. (By the way they have to be decently modern.)

I'm not sure what kind of venue you're auditioning for, but try a monologue from "The Vagina Monologues" or "The Good Body" by Eve Ensler. They are both very powerful plays and very new.

My cousin used a monologue from bye bye birdie the one where ursala (how ever you spell it) is talking to kim on the phone and kim welll isnt there except she is in the play but just pretend ur talking to kim its really uses a lot of emotion so its a great monologue

Kim Macaphee, what do you mean your resigning from the fan club Just because Hugo Peabody gave you his pin doesnt mean you need to retire from all social life. Yes going steady is very important, but there are some things that are more important than very important, and the Conrad Birdie fan club is one of them. (kim talks) You're giving up the scream You mean when Conrad Birdie sings on television, your not gunna go AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Oh Kim.

it depends on how you want the monologue to be. most monologues that you can find will be relatively short.

here are some pages where you can search for one.

http://www.whysanity.net/monos/ (movie monologues)
http://filmreelproductions.com/Monologues%20and%20Scenes/mono_dramatic.htm (monologues and acting scenes)

also, if you look at some chicken soup for the soul books (teenagers and preteens and such) you can usually adapt one of those stories into a monologue. it really depends on how much work you want to put into it.

There is a Stephen King short story called "Rage"

Story is about a student who holds his 3rd period high school English class hostage. Needless to say, it is no longer being printed.

One of the students, I think his name was Pig Pen because he was so dirty, goes on a fantastic monologue about how his mother is driving him crazy.
