I recently installed the Beta Version of Internet Explorer 7 and it worked fine for a few days...now it takes FOREVER to open up. There are several user accounts on my PC and no one else has this problem. What could be wrong?

I don't have multiple programs running in the background, and it's NOT the fact that it's a BETA Version. I had the same problem with the regular Internet Explorer

Spyware. Get Spybot Search and Destroy, get Ad aware 6.0 by Lavasoft, and get Spyware Blaster that KEEPS the crap off the machine in the first place.

Then put seldom used files that are on the desktop into folders- one for "Maggie" and one for "Jim" and one for "Sue" and one for "You"- the less crap on the desktop the faster the machine runs

Next, defrag the hard drive- in fact, defrag it 2 or 3 or 4 times.

Then, call your ISP and see if you're getting the bandwidth you're paying for. I have to call Comcast about once every 3 months to make sure I'm getting what I'm paying for- cause they'll slack off and I'll lose bandwidth

Good Luck

It could be a couple of things.

First - microsoft likes to load in a ton of features, so that they can say that their product does everything but eat. It takes time to load all that stuff.

Second - you may have a bunch of temporary files left over. Try deleting them. Click on the "tools" menu, then "internet options" to find this.

Third - how many other applications do you have open? The more things you have going on at once, the more RAM memory it takes from your system. And you can think of RAM memory as a scratch pad that each program uses to work. If you tried to do your taxes with just one 3 by 5 index card to work on at a time, how long would it take you to get everything done?

Fourth - try using a different browser. Do a search for "Firefox", download that, and see if that works better. I use it for almost everything, and only use IE if I absolutely have to. That's usually downloading more and more updates to patch the windoze systems, 'cause microsoft won't let you use anything else but IE. I think it's their way of padding the count of how many users they have using their product.

Fifth - try adding more memory. Go to memory4all.com to see what your system takes. I've used them, and had good luck. And you'd be amazed what some extra memory will do for the speed of a computer.

I have this problem too. I tried loooking it up on microsoft.com but i just couldn't find it. so instead i just use mozilla firefox which is way faster than internet explorer.

or you can go to the support section in microsoft.com and try looking for the solution.

also i don't think spyware is the problem, unless you don't have any spyware detecter such as spybot. or your programs are slow to load up. i don't have any spyware, (as to my knowledge) and internet explorer still runs slow.

or you can get the ccleaner program which cleans you computer up. http://www.ccleaner.com

The computer may be running too many programs. Push alt+ctrl+del to cancel some of them.
