could be a couple things...Sometimes kids get little blisters on their tongues with fevers ("fever blisters"). These usually hurt. Another possibility: some kids can get a version of the coxsackie virus which causes small painful sores on their tongue and mouth that are known as herpangina. Another possibility is that she has/had strep throat and had the sign of strep known as "strawberry tongue," which looks like a white coated tongue or red tongue with enlarged papillae (taste buds), and those don't hurt...so that would make sense too.

It could be a number of things..I'm no doctor but I am a RN and work in a Family Practice office where we treat many patients with these symptoms.

Thrush on the mouth and tongue looks like white patches similar to cottage cheese or milk curds. When the patches are wiped away, the underlying area appears red and raw and may bleed..

We don't typically see Strep patients who have cold symptoms like Cough or Runny Nose so more than likely it's not strep unless she is running a fever of 101 or higher and white or yellow spots on the back of her throat and or tonsils. Most of the time Drainage can cause a sore throat and all of this could be something as simple as allergies.

You said she is feeling better so that is all that matters..If symptoms persist you need to get her into the doctor for evaluation and treatment...

Glossitis (inflammation of the tongue) can be caused by many things. I've had it with viral infections, especially stomach viruses. The runny nose can be causing the sore throat because of the drainage which could also contribute to the glossitis. Certain medications can cause it as well. It sounds like a viral infection and the warm salt water will help the tongue and sore throat. I doubt it is thrush because thrush causes a fine white film all over the inside of the checks, etc. Thrush is a fungal infection. Watch her throat for pus pockets, as it could be strep throat or mononucleosis. Mono is severe and requires bed rest and NO physical activity. It is a virus called the Epstein Barr Virus.

Oral thrush is led to by technique of the same microorganism that causes vaginal yeast infections, Candida. Take her to a walk-in sanatorium this weekend! Left untreated her mouth can grow to be so contaminated and get so sore she will be able to no longer be able to tolerate food or liquid in her mouth. it would want to correctly be in her esophagus and each and each of how right down to her abdomen, gastrointestinal tract and her lungs besides. It takes extremely a lengthy time period to heal, so the quicker you start up the treatment the more effective efficient. maximum walk-in clinics are open 7 days a week, a minimum of 12 hours an afternoon, and take all sorts of coverage. Get her into the well being care provider on the prompt, please. Nystatin rinse or lozenges, and the treatment used for vaginal yeast infections are frequently use to manage oral thrush.
