I thought about how much coverage it would have got if she was a black girl. It's weird how the media reacts to certain cases and not others...

The Ramses were upscale America. The police blotched the investigation. The press made Mr. and Mrs Ramsey scapegoats. They were hurt, vulnerable and made to look suspicious. The hurt and pain took its toll on the family to such an extent that Mrs Ramsey's health crumbled. It did not help that one of the investigating officers wrote a very damning book pointing fingers at the Ramseys. It was a unique case in that a respectable couple were judged and found guilty in the courts of public opinion. Time, the lack of positive leads and an unfriendly press helped to drive the story--not the looks of the little girl.

While I agree with you on Natalee Holloway to an extent, the JonBenet case was an intriguing case. There were so many fingers pointing at the parents or the brother. Most people dont like hearing about kids sexually assaulted or killed. It doesnt matter what they look like.

While I feel like it became a media circus because of money, I don't think it was because she was blond haired and blue eyed. I know of many cute kids that have disappeared and died unnoticed and it was normally because they weren't rich and weren't popular.
In saying that I have to say, whether this child was rich I am sorry for their loss and that it is never a child dying and all is never a good reason to be disrespectful or that child. Have some mercy.

I don't. Your right, we only care about attractive or cute missing people. And that little girl had photos all over that made her look like a 20 year old woman. It was and is still a very weird case.

Do you know how many "ugly" children are killed every day and no one cares?
And unfortunately I think "ugly" also includes not white because a lot of beautiful girls of colour go missing and it only makes the local - and then for only a few weeks and again if the killer is caught.

I think it was because of her parrents millions of dollars and the fact that she was a beauty queen at such a young age.

I think anytime a child is harmed or murdered we should hear about it. We need to be reminded to be careful with our kids. They are very important. It doesn't matter what color hair they have. They are very precious to someone.

A coincidence that they were both "hot." Their parents are both of considerable means and I think that is why the cases were so high profile.
