You can start lifting weights now. This will help tone your muscles and create lean body mass, but you should also do some type of cardio to help lose the body fat as well. Talk to a personal trainer. They can help set you up with a routine and teach you proper form as well as nutritional counseling.

Training with weights will add muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. So while it may make you look better in the long run, it may confuse you when you get on the scale - making it look like you have lost less weight (in terms of fat) than you really have. I'd concentrate on getting the fat off first, then once you're slim, add muscle via the weights.

always have vegetables on hand saute a big bag of frozen mixed vegetables in olive oil and garlic add some red pepper or turmeric for additional flavor and separate into portion sized containers for the fridge
