Honestly it could be a number of things but this is a problem I run into with a lot of my patients and more then likely it's gas!

Which side and where? Chest or abdomen? If is the lower right quadrant of your abdomen, could be your appendix or a kidney stone. It could also be hepatitis, which is an inflammation of the liver. The left side could be a kidney stone; spleen infection; inflammation of the descending colon (colonitis). What you should do is immediately see your doctor. If the pain gets worse or if you start to run a fever, go to an emergency room. If the pain is in your chest, it could be a pulmonary (lung) problem. Don't wait too long. Good luck!

it may be constipation as well. I would have it checked out. If it hurts to use the bathroom, or if you are going less than 3 times daily, add more fiber to your diet, and drink more water. You need at least 20 grams of fiber a day, older people need more like 25 grams.
