Most adults will do it to vent anger as well as some teenagers. Many teenagers will swear up a storm because they think it will impress others into thinking they're cool, when it really doesn't. There's nothing worse than hearing an adult who talks like he's still in high school.

People start swearing to appear more adult and mature. Unfortunately it has the opposite effect and it's even worse when girls do it.
