The first signs are an extreme thirst especially after meals. The high blood sugar makes you extremely thirsty. Black spot in the eyes and if you have not had anything to eat for at least a couple of hours and you feel light headed unenergetic and very tired. After eating a big meal you will not still feel hungry in fact your body will be unable to cope with what you have digested. Also if you eat too much you may even throw up. These are the symptoms for type 1 diabetic( where the pancreas no longer produces insulin the catalyst used to break down sugar) but type 2(where the pancreas works intermittently and is faulty) then the symptoms may not be as severe.

You may want to go to a doctor but I remember when I was diagnosed I could not put on weight at all but I believe in type 2 Diabetes the weight goes on. Each person has different symptoms but generally speaking if you have very sugary food then this will make the body seem tired and you will need a lot of water to clench your thirst.

If you've not been diagnosed with diabetes yet, most people see their doctors for the following reasons: they may be experiencing frequent urinary tract infections, have excessive thirst and urination, changes in their vision, fatigue, and they also have poor healing cuts, sores, etc. Sometimes they experience weight loss even if they are eating a lot more. You may need to have a check up to see why you are having these symptoms. Routine blood work can tell your doctor whether you have diabetes. It is important to take control of it if you are diagnosed with diabetes. But first get a definitive answer. Good Luck

the three p's:

polyuria (peeing all the time)

polydipsia (drinking all the time, being thirsty all the time)

polyphagia (eating all the time, unusual hunger)

these are the three p's outlined by the american diabetic association. other symptoms include fatigue, dizziness (especially in the case of low blood sugar), profuse sweating at times. in order to get correctly diagnosed as a diabetic, ask your doctor for a glucose tolerance test - this test it taken over 2 hours and tests your body's handling of sugar and a blood test called a hemoglobin A1C - this tests your body's handling of sugar and how well you have processed sugar over the last 2-3 months.
