JK rowling announced that one of the characters that should have died in book 7 wouldn't die, but that 2 others would die instead. So, there's still a chance of harry dying.

What we also know is that the very last word of the book will be "scar".

The way I see it, Harry will have to find all horcruxes and destroy them before facing voldemort. He will probably be helped by this mysterious RAB (please correct me if the initials are wrong. But I believe it's that, since some people believe this mas to be sirius black's brother... forgot his first name, sorry) for finding the horcruxes. That RAB guy will probably die doing so, and from the hints rowling has given us trhough dumbledore, I believe wormtail will help him at some point too, and probably die too, since he's incapable of defending himself properly.

So HP might be safe. And the last sentence might be him "rubbing his scar" or something like that.

However, there is another possibility: one of the 2 I just mentioned doesn't die, and Harry is the one who dies. In that case, Harry could use the same charm his mother used to kill voldermort, in the last battle. In that case, I see the scene unfold that way: Ginny comes to help Harry but gets captured, or for some other reason, voldemort is about to kill her (wants to see harry suffer, maybe). Then, harry (who has his mother's eyes, and therefore her powers) gets between voldemort and ginny and takes the killing curse instead of ginny. he dies, and gives "a lingering protection to ginny" (I suppose they would need to have sex beforehand, or something, because of the blood link they might need to cast that kind of charm, but it's possible, and would be a VERY powerful moment)
Then, voldemort turns his wand toward ginny again, and cast the killing curse a second time, it rebonds on her, leaving a lightning bolt scar and killing voldemort for good (since all his horcruxes would have been destroyed by then)
And the last chapter would be about ginny and her new scar, probably remembering harry.

My advice: buy the book when it comes out and read it. You won't know for sure until then.

I am a writer, and you can take it from me. Unless J K Rowling has lost her mind, she cannot kill Harry Potter. The first three books had sort of an uplifting ending. The next three were darker and ended not so good. This is what writers do. You stick your main character in a tree and throw rocks at them, make them look like they will die, but then you have to save them. Harry Potter will come out on top at the end of book 7.
I can't say the same for his friends.

I hear all this hype about Harry possibly dying in the last book, and I just think that it's sort of ironic (or maybe inconsistent?) to label him as "the boy who lived" only to kill him off at the end of the series...

with a bloody feeling, i think somehow that the over-the-top fans will spoil the day for the other sensible fans. i can imagine the day the scar book is released, these OTT fans will immediately turn to the last chapters of the book after purchasing the book, to find out who dies. and then they will shout, "OMG HaRRy pOttER is DeaD!" or "yYyyyYEah! bloody VoldeMorT iS gONe!!"
or stuff....

i'm planning to get my mum to buy it for me. and i'll isolate myself from the internet 2months before the book is released. i was spoiled in the HBP book, but i bloody well dont want to get spoiled in the ragnarok book...

as for Harry's fate, i think He Lives, but somebody close with him die. and i somehow think it's the big friendly giant.

The following people should die in the last book:

Voldermort
Snape (his most loyal Death Eater)
The Malfoy Family
Scabbers (aka Peter Petegrew aka wormtail)
Umbridge
All other Death Eaters
All Evil Slytherians
All other evil wizards

I'm halfway hoping for Voldemort to win his battle with Harry, and then Neville to kill Voldemort, saving Harry from death. It would fit with Rowling's style, and she hinted at it in book 5.

I doubt he will die in book 7. I believe he will beat Lord Voldemort and will re-engage teachings at Hogwarts as the new headmaster himself. I think that book seven will be amazing. . . I can't wait. . .

Get used to it now. Harry is gonna die. That way, if he doesn't you can feel pleasantly surprised.

I really, really hope not! But J.K. Rowling has been hinting at it. That way, no one can pick the series back up as their own.
