You know, how each of the three main companies are supposed to give you a free report every year. For some reason, every time I try to do it, I get sent to some website where I have to pay money or register or... or... Long story short: who has done it the right way and how do you do it without having to pay money. Thanks!

Of course you have to register. They need to know it's you asking for the info, and having a credit card helps to verify that. Aside from that, you can get your credit REPORT free at sites mentioned, but your credit SCORE is different and not subject to the freebee regulation. There are lots of people who like to pretend they know what they're talking about.

The free credit check is at:
http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com
Do NOT go to FreeCreditReport.com! You have to sign up for a monitoring service that is nearly impossible to cancel!
The free credit report at the link above does NOT include your credit score. You are not entitled to free access to that, though all of the major credit reporting agencies will sell you that info for a few dollars.

You can just go on to each of the reporting agency's websites and get yout credit report and also dispute them as well online for free
www.experian.com
www.transunion.com
www.equifax.com
You will have to register, but the report is free.
or you can just go to www.freecreditreport.com
I think the website is owned by experian.
Hope this helps

freecreditreport.com , you have to register because they do free credit monitoring and update you through your email if anything changes in it. you have to give them an account number to any financial institution you may have because that is the proof of who you are along with your social security number. it is safe through them. you get one free credit report a year plus year around credit monitoring.
