They do have a purpose. Your tonsils are part of the lymphatic system.
They act as a "storage" place when you have a virus or bacterial infection. That is the reason they often swell when you have a cold. The bacteria holds there until your white blood cells come in and do their thing.
Same is true for your appendix.
If you have them removed, other systems in your body will have to work harder.

Tonsils are a part of your filtering system. They can get a real sick.strep in mine. I was 15 before they took out mine. Good Luck

They are suppose to catch the germs that go through your mouth. Since they're taking them out, you're going to get sick alot more often.
