An example of history repeating itself. In Cambodia Pol Pot set out to create a farming peasantry, he started by killing the educated and ended with killing 25% of his population. He was educated enough to know the literacy was a threat. He expelled foreigners, displaced citizens from cities and put them to work in what is now called the killing fields. He shut down television stations, radio stations and newspapers working his people from 4:00am to 10:00pm. All businesses were shuttered, religion banned, education halted, health care eliminated, and parental authority revoked. He took this idea from China and called it the Democratic Republic of Kampuchea. How's that for a patriotic slogan ? He used words like cleansing and the elimination of the old society while he killed any remnant of the educated, religious or potential threat to his democracy. What makes the propaganda of the Bush administration so frustrating is selling the idea you can violate the rule of law and still establish a democracy. That is why education threatens shallow democracies. It requires education to understand the balances of power within a tolerant democratic society. It takes education to understand the responsibility that comes with freedom. It takes wisdom to under stand that wars will come and reason to wage war will come but wisdom is learning diplomacy. Men who've fought and empathize with soldiers fighting are a threat to men who've lied about their service. They know slogans are overrated when men fight and die daily "staying the course" is a mistake if the venture is misguided. Education social, emotional or common knows forcing "democracy" on any culture offends the spirit of what they claim to establish. In Iraq you have a high level of undereducated lower class oppressed people who can not understand the premises of democracy and the freedom it offers. It is men in Administrations like this one who seize on the ignorance of the uneducated with tax refunds and claims of smaller Government while they rob the widows of their pensions. It is the Ann Coulters and George Bushs who call Generals who oppose their belief traitors. It is the cowardly who call John Murtha a fascist and it leads me to believe they don't know what it means. It is the educated who use these words to promote intolerance and propaganda, they are without excuse. A man who lies about his service and condemns a man who did or stands by while others lie is without excuse.

Yes, because the government runs the schools, and the government school graduates are taught that government provides everything for every body.
They are not taught about what the Declaration of Independence means or the purpose of the Consitution.
As a result they are ready to accept anything that is consistent with the Leftist propaganda they are indoctrinated with at the government schools.

Forgive me! I don't understand all this hate for liberals. My grandfather was a liberal, and active in the labor movement. They raised the minimun age for work to 16 and the 40hr week and a liveable wage. It was the liberals supported civil rights movement and did away with the poll tax, As a liberal I fell out with them when they moved to the far left Now we are facing the far right, now I was willing to move a little right but ----? Seems Americans get moving "they gotta go all the way", no middle road

education is important but it has been hijacked by ideology and corruption.
The only way to fix it, is to tear it all down and start fresh.
