I have been a firm believer that people are ignorant (lack of knowledge) but lately I am noticing that they are stupid (incapable of learning).

Ignorance is an easy way out for alot of people who can't deal with life issues. They seem to think that if they ignore something distasteful or stress producing, it will just go away. Interesting side note is that many ignorant people are also very idealistic. Those of us who live in reality generally take a more pragmatic approach. Stupidity...well, totally different animal. But you are right, seems to be more and more stupid people trying to answer questions on this site.

Perhaps it's due to too many computer games that do your thinking for you. I believe every one is capable of learning. Every one in class gets the prize so someones feelings won't be hurt. Why bother to learn if you are rewarded anyway.

I appreciate your sentiments, but it is dangerous to generalize? What pisses me off is "militant ignorance" (people who are aware of the great leaping gaps in their knowledge base but are still so arrogant that it's downright pathetic... and they've no intention of seeking enlightment or to ever remedy their profound ignorance).

Generally speaking, most people are irrefutably stupid and incapable of learning.

To use stupid in the sense that you are using it, i think people just don't want to learn.
