Firefighter.
I have not heard any corrupted firefighter yet. Nor I hear any firefighter abusing their authorities.
However, I have heard and seen plenty of corrupted policemen.
On the other hand, if the person who does the job right and respect their duty, both should be dserve respect.

Policemen. While Firefighters do put their lives on the line, so do policemen. Policemen do alot of things that theyre not credited with. Firefighting is a tough job saving peoples lives. Policemen are given the job to let the people live their lives in peace.

well i would have to say volunteer firefighters because they take time off from friends and family to go put out fires any time day or night and they don't get paid anything that's why they are called volunteers. in a lot of places they don't have paid firefighters in rural community's and they depend on volunteer firefighters to put out the fires regardless of the type of fire it is. House Woods or wrecks they respond to all types of fires just like big city firefighters. They even looked for parts of the space shuttle when it blew up and and most of it landed in Sabine County and San Augustine County, Texas. They were the first ones called out because they could start looking faster and they where from the area. And they get very little and sometimes no recognition for it and a lot of times not even a thank you. So please support your V.F.D. they may need it more than you think they do. The source i used for this was from myself and i am a volunteer firefighter In Sabine County, TEXAS

I start my police training on Monday and my Uncle is a Firefighter.
Both jobs demand a certain amount of respect I think due to the dangers that these people put themselves in to protect there country.
Police fight the war on crime, and go to war everyday! Where as Firefighters literally put themselves at risk everytime that siren starts!
Who cant respect these people ???

They both deserve more respect than they get. Not very high paying jobs, and they risk their lives everyday to make it safer for those of us who abide the law. They don't make the rules, they just follow them and enforce them. I think police get an unusually bad stigma, do to the fact they enforce more than firefighters, but really all they want is the safety of the people.

i think both of them should get equal respect. because both jobs do different types of work, and the police officer patrols and got after crimmials and the firefighter go into burining buildings and assist at accidents. both of the same some of the same duties, but without either, everyone would be in a world of hurt.
there are other occupations who need more respect, which don't get it.
like the postal personal, who stays up super late to keep the post office open to drop last minute tax returns so Uncle Sam don't charge late fees.
late night store clerks, who keeps the local conveiniant store open when we want the late night coffee.
taxi drivers who drive in inclement weather (snow) when we won't drive in it, due to a freak snow storm in states or places which don't normally get snow.
city bus drivers, who works on weekends when some folks won't and are ready to take you clear across town for a $1.25 (Phx AZ) when we don't want to put that $3.00 per gallon gas in our cars.
school bus drivers who get up early to take the kids to and from school everyday, when parents don't want to take their own kids. take kids on field trips, late night sports activities.
school teachers who take the time to teach the children.
i know some of these people get paid good money, and by the tax $s, but some of the people do extra duties which the everyday people don't see on an everyday bases.
and not last or least, let's not forget all of the military branches who fight, fought and will fight for our freedom here in the good ole USA.
so this is one way i am soluting all the hard working folks. i know there are a lot more other professions out there but i don't have the time and space here to list all of them. so i SOLUTE every hard working person out there in this world.
THANK YOU for letting me say my thank yous to all these folks.

I think that both deserve equal respect as they bravely put their lives on the line to make our world a better place. Firemen face great difficulty in extinguishing large fires which could possibly escalate into an explosion and kill them. Policemen encounter dangerous criminals nearly every day who could potentially kill any one of us but their courage and determination ensures that those threats are eliminated!

Both, I think they both seem to live at the risk of having their lives taken. But die with the respect to know that they were helping the world, or at least a person.

Gee, I would say BOTH since they risk their lives trying to protect the innocent (and, yes, the completely stupid, as well).
They put their lives on the line to make it safe for us to walk in the street without some a-s-shole wanting to hurt innocent people just for the hell of it.
