Assuming the person is attractive to you...

Would you be willing to go on a date with someone that contacted you through the internet (ie - MySpace, one of the bajillion personals sites, etc.)? Or would you more likely go on a date with someone who you talked to in person, and later asked you out? Or would you accept both situations?

Please provide a reason as to why you feel that way.

Side note:
Please realize that if you meet for a date in a public area you aren't going to be hurt, raped, etc. If you still feel think you are, understand that you are just as vulnerable to being attacked after meeting someone in person especially if they can hide their evil from detection. If you don't believe me look at the situation with Ted Bundy.
Also assume that you can see pictures of the person you think you are meeting. Plus, once again a person can lie to you just as easy in person about how great they are.

Remember, even if they lied, it's not like you're forced to stay on the date.

I have actually gone on a date with someone I met online. I had spoken to that person for about six months before we met. I had really fallen for him and he felt the same way. When we met we still had the same feelings. When saw each other on several occasions after that, but it didn't work about because of the distance. I feel that when you meet someone on the internet and contact with each other that way, it's more intimate. I feel people express themselves more openly in writing. Of course when you met someone in person and get to know them with time and develop feelings later on, that's good too. You really are taking a risk either way.

I'd sooner meet someone in person, because I don't trust the 'Net completely. But hey, if I knew I could trust the 'Net, I would, because that's how Kip from Napoleon Dynamite found his'n.
