I've been held against my will.... by a previous employer.

It was the middle of winter. I was at his house out in the country. He was supposed to drive me home after we'd finished our work.

He refused...saying he felt it would be dangerous for him to drive at night and he'd heard there might be a winter storm. He told me his wife and child were gone for the night so there was a spare room I could spend the night in.

I was very uncomfortable with the idea, because he had confided in me at one point a couple of months previously that he was bi-sexual, but he asked me not to tell anyone because 'if people knew, it could ruin his career'.

But at the same time I couldn't afford a forty dollar taxi ride back into the city at the time.

I went to bed, and figured...okay, it'll be fine ...I'll get some sleep and go home in the morning....but halfway through the night...I woke up and he was crawling into my bed and starting to feel me up.

I freaked out. Jumped out of bed, put my clothes on and left... it took me eight hours to walk home.

The next day I called his wife, whom I thought was a lovely person. I asked her to inform her husband that I was no longer willing to work for him and I told her why.

I had been fine with respecting his life choices and keeping his 'secret' until he disrespected my choices and tried to manipulate me into a situation for his own benefit. I told his wife that if he ever tried to call me or contact me I would call the police on him for sexual assault and involuntary confinement.

The next time I heard from him was five years later...he called me from a hospital saying he had had a stroke, his father had died, his wife had left him....I never called him back. Too bad....he used to be a friend.

I've been kidnapped/held hostage/tied up before, but only by friends and people I knew, just playing and being silly, never scary.

I hitchhiked a lot as a teenager with no car. I was never hurt because whenever someone stopped for me, I always started with, "Thanks for stopping. I have pepper spray in my purse. Are we going to have any problems?" Some people drove off at that point. I also have a switchblade knife and handcuffs in my purse.

I don't get too much trouble from sources I'm not expecting, because I'm tall (nearly 6') and strong and I teach women's self-defense courses. Most guys looking for victims pick on those smaller and weaker that they think they can take easily.

Everyone should take a self-defense course. Many basic safety courses are free of charge- contact your police dept and ask where they are taught in your community.

Nope..I can't say that I have thank God..but my some guys tried to kidnap my fiance when he was a kid.I guess he was walking home from school and this van kept driving by him really slowly..after about the third time they stopped and a guy got out. My fiance heard the driver tell the other guy to "go get him" and he started running after him.My fiance ran as fast as he could..good thing he was a fast runner..he didn't stop running until he got into the house.Very scary stuff!

When I was a pizza guy I was robbed at gun point 3 different times. The 1st time, as the fellow was pointing his gun at me,I remember thinking that that gun could go off at any second Also, the robber made me lay on my belly so he could take my wallet. As he had that gun on me,I felt a spot on the back of my head heating up and the hair start standing up like it was getting ready for some trauma. After the experience I was shaken up for a number of weeks. And trying to study and memorize things that I was working on at the time,I found it was very hard to concentrate.
In my wallet was an extra house key,so the next day my landlord came over to change the lock on the door, after I told him what had happened. I was home when he came by,and when he saw me he came up and just kidding around,he stuck his finger against my ribs and said "stick'm up." You know, I didn't find that one bit funny.

The scariest experience I had was hanging from tree branch overhanging a cliff while climbing down a mountain at night. As the branch gave way, I truly thought I was a goner and a few feet below, I landed on a small ledge.

Still alive!

Oh, by the way, on the weekend I"m going DECALADING (climbing down mountain)

Very nearly. I was 19, and working at the local pharmacy. My shift ended at 1pm on Wednesdays, and I usually took a cab home. On this particular Wednesday, all the cabs were busy. So I waited. And waited. And waited.

Finally, I called the cab company back. Remember, this was in the days before cell phones, and the cab drivers communicated with each other and dispatch via CB radio.

When I called back, the dispatcher said it would be about another 30 minutes, so I sat on the bench outside the store to wait. A few minutes later, a big blonde man walked up to me and asked if I was waiting for a cab. I told him that I was, and he instructed me to go wait in the gold Monte Carlo across the street while he bought a pack of cigarettes.

I went to get in the car, and as I walked behind it, I noticed that the plates were for a neighboring state. I went back into the store and asked if he was sure he was to pick me up. He replied that he had been visiting **** (he named the dispatcher) and this person had told him to come pick me up.

I went back to the car and climbed into the front seat. He came out, got in, and then said his friend had gone into the bar next door for a six-pack, and that as soon as he came out they'd take me home.

That didn't sound right, and it was also about this time that I noticed a half empty quart of beer on the floor. I realized that **** would never send anybody who had been drinking to pick up a fare.

As I reached for the door handle, he said "Here comes my buddy now" and I looked over to see the filthiest, scariest looking man. I turned to the driver, said "**** didn't send you, did he?" and got myself out of that car in record time.

I ran back into the pharmacy and told my boss what had just happened. He felt I should call the police, but I felt that I was just over reacting. About this time my real cab driver pulled in, and when I told her the story she replied that her father would never send anyone other than her or one of her brothers to pick up a fare.

We couldn't figure out how they had known I needed a cab, but then I remembered that when I noticed the license plates, I had also noticed the aeriel for a CB radio mounted on the trunk of the car.

Oh yes, I called the police. To make a long story short, these two had done things like this in the past, (kidnapping, rape, murder) but it wasn't until they were later killed in a police shootout in Florida that I finally learned the entire story.

i have a recording studio in Seattle and it got robbed at gun point a month ago while we were in it. they took us hostage and made us strip naked then pistol whipped us while they ran-sacked the house and took thousands of dollars worth of equipment. in retrospect it was pretty funny the way they went about it and some of the things they said (like they were pretending to be FBI agents and stuff) were pretty hilarious. they were strategic but also very stupid. i was mostly worried because i don't take kindly to guns being pointed at me or being pistol whipped so i was afraid i was gonna mouth off and get shot. i obviously didn't get shot because i made it through without mouthing off. it was very scary and material possessions are just that MATERIAL and are replaceable in time.

I have never been kidnapped before but my daughter did...I was with a friend who took me to work and was going to watch my daughter when her boyfriend pulled me out of the car and climbed in and took off with my friend and my daughter in the car...I called the police from my work who looked for her...my work refused to let me off as well as my husbands work so we could help the police look for them...I was so worried and upset the entire time...finally after 6 hours of looking for them they showed up at my work...my friend apologized and told me that it wont happen again...my daughter never was changed and was soaking wet from her diaper and didnt eat she was starving...she was only 7 months old at the time...I told her ok that I would forgive her but her boyfriend wasnt ever allowed in my home or even near me...she agreed... a couple of days later she called me asking if I found a clump of black hair (which I did and thought that it was trash and had thrown it away) I told her that I threw it away...she got all mad at me and one week later I got a summons to court saying that I was being sued by her for hair extentions totalling 200 dollars....I was furious....when I went to court I brought the police report with me told the judge what happend that I had no idea what that clump of hair was and that I threw it away...the judge totally yelled at her and threw out the case...sorry it wasnt scary like u hoped but it sure was a tramatic experience for me
