I was born here in America but my father is Nigerian. Even though i was born and raised here i still have people telling me that i am not American. granted I have Nigerian in my heritage, that should not make me any less American than anybody else.

Anyone born in the U.S. is an American. Anyone that has immigrated to the U.S. legally is American. If your parents moved here 5 minutes before you were born, you would still be an American.

auadude, I'm white and live in the south. Your comments are as racist as the people you attempt to portray.

Dear Prince, You are an American!

There is no one called "Native Americans". They have all migrated from Britian & Europe few hundred years before. Oldest of them are "Red Indians" from South Asia.

Tell them,

"Yes, I am a Nigerian by blood". We came here for the same reason that you people have come from Europe"

Let them say "you are a nigerian" - no worries. Be happy.

Tell them that the Country of America that time did not have an intelligent person like my father. So they have invited us.

Welcome to the world of identity confusion.. My parents are from Mexico and I was born here. when I visit Mexico, I am referred to as American when I am in the States I am referred to as Mexican. So I am very comfortable saying I am American of Mexican descent........Mexican-American. If I had to choose I would say I am more Mexican than anything else, my values, traditions and ways of living and thinking and beliefs are much more tied to the Mexican culture. We live in the best of both worlds.........So you are no less American than anybody else, its all in your heart and don't worry about others.
