Recent studies show that 5 servings of caffine a day are fine, but you should hold it down to 2 during the 1st trimester, since caffine can cause miscarriage.
However, I'd seriously urge you not to drink diet soda. It's only "diet" because it contains artifical sweeteners, which can cause cancer.
If you're a person who only drinks soda twice a week anyway, go ahead and have the extra teaspoon of sugar contained in a regular soda. It doesn't make that much of a difference, to have a little sugar.
If you're going to have a diet soda, you may as well have a cigarette. Don't do it, pregnant or not. That goes for Equil, Splenda and NutriSweet, too.

i'm 29 weeks lengthy gone, and am permitting myself the occasional glass (by technique of occasional I recommend max two times a week, and by no skill interior the same sitting). the ingredient that i have got here across is that as i have decrease down a lot (i grow to be really a white wine guzzler in the previous), 1/2 a tumbler of wine is going immediately to my head now, and that i eventually end up giving the different 1/2 to some different person. a lot of human beings also discover that they bypass off the booze completely, so i doesn't choose the quantities you may want to drink by technique of your present day conduct. "authentic" suggestion is going from 0 to at least one or 2 instruments a week, inspite of the undeniable fact that the ingredient they're all consistent on is: -by no skill drink adequate to truly be less than the effect of alcohol -have more effective non-ingesting than ingesting days -drink an rather good type of water/non alcoholic beverages to save hydrated -if unclear, be careful i don't think of any human beings really recognize the harm it would want to reason (because of the ethics checking out out on pregnant women human beings). the actual undeniable actuality that you're asking this question skill you're likely really worried about it besides, so bypass with what your sense of proper and incorrect is already telling you - decrease down, way way down. once you get used to no longer ingesting, it is truly no longer undesirable - it is less costly as something, you may continually get abode ok, and in case you're taking a digicam with you, you may assemble tremendous blackmail skill on your friends who're nevertheless ingesting :) good luck with all of it. Soda has no nutritional content. The caffeine & sugar in it, actually dehydrate the body.
It doesn't matter that it really won't do any harm to your baby. What matters, is that it won't do any good. And what a waste - to throw something down your throat that won't do any good for a poor, helpless child that can only hope that his mother gives him nutrients that he needs to grow.
Be a better mother - drink water. Juice. Milk. But, plenty of water. This will help your baby grow, and keep your body working regularly. Water not only aids in digestion - but babies require plenty of water for their own growing!

i think almost anything is ok as long as it is in moderation...
i dont think twice a week is a problem at all
i would consider cutting down if it became a huge craving though
im sure it would be giving you extra energy boosst though... this time of the pregnancy tends to be a bit tiring as your body adjusts as well
it can also help ease nausea ...
anyway have fun

Soft drinks especially the dark colored ones are not recommended for good health and probably not a favor to an unborn.

You better ask your doctor about that! Mine said absolutely NO diet colas (at least until much later in my pregnancy). He did tell me regular coke was o.k. in moderation. He was not worried about the caffiene...he was worried about the nutrisweet and aspartame.

I wouldn't ever drink diet. It causes cancer. But if you don't believe it here is a list of what artificial sweeteners are safe. Try caffeine free too. Good Luck

Most practioners are more worried about the aspartame and artificial sweeteners than they are about the caffeine in cola.
For that reason, I would drink it sparingly which is what you are doing, and that is fine.
