I want to shave my legs, but I'm scared. I never really noticed my hairy legs before, but I suddenly did. And when I look around me in PE, all the other girls have shaved legs. I'm really self-conscious and now I feel embarrased because I'm the only one with hairy legs, but I don't want to shave my legs because I've heard that shaving your legs causes new hair to be thicker and darker. Is that true? I have dark hair, so you can see the hair on my legs clearly. And once you start shaving, you have to keep on shaving, right? So, that's a real pain. Can someone help me?

If you dont want to shave then dont. It is not a big deal its
JUST HAIR. People in america are so stupid about this.
a man can have hair on his body but a woman cant? WTF?
In France the women dont shave and they are very attractive
and no one complains. Dont worry its just the american mentallity
if anyone says anything laugh at them. They're stupid anyway.

I say, if you're uncomfortable with your leg hair, it's time to start shaving it. At least assuming that your parents are ok with that. As for your shaving concerns, I never bought the whole "shaving makes the hair grow thicker" story. I think that the hair is just getting thicker on its own about the time that girls start shaving, so some people might mistakenly think that shaving caused it. And I personally didn't notice that mine got any thicker or coarser once I started shaving. And no, once you start shaving, you don't have to keep doing it. However, if you don't shave regularly, you will be back to being the only girl in gym class with visible leg hair. It's still a choice though, especially in the winter when you wear pants every day. Hope that helps. And good luck the first time you do decide to pick up a razor.

im a girl too. i shaved since i was 9 years old. the hair on my legs always stayed the same way. i have 2 options.....

#1: Either shave everyday so the hair will not grow back as to if you shave once a week. this will make sure that you will not be embaressed.

#2: shave a small part and wait to see if it will grow more than the other hair

i hope this helps- ♥ Dallas Meeks♥

I used to feel the same way! I was so upset because my dark hair was so obvious my my skin, and all the other girls' hair was either shaved or too blonde to notice.

First I started to shave in secret, without my mom knowing, then she let me use Nair and now I just shave. It's NOT that much of a hassle and I felt smooth for days! Have fun and I hope this helps.

How old are you? If you have dark, long hair on your legs, then you should be allowed to shave or use a depilatory, like Nair; I have a friend who's absolutely stunning, but if she doesn't shave a least 2-3 times per week, her legs are like boar bristles...hard and hairy; you can't really know how hairs going to grow back until you start; how about your mom or grandmother? Hairy or not....good luck!

It depends on your age. If I were you, I would just get it over with. No one likes a girl with hairy legs, especially not once you get to high school. That's just gross. Shaving is another one of those signs that says you're growing up, and that's a good thing. You don't want to be a kid all your life, however fun it may be.

Don't worry, having your hair darken is a natural part of puberty. We all experience it.
You should start shaving. It doesn't hurt at all.
Use good shaving cream like Nair.
Be sure to shave every other day, after/before you take a shower.
Don't shave past 3 inches above your kneecap.

hairy legs, no offense, r like the least sexy or feminine thing on girls!! so shave them legs! I just tried Veet Rasera bladeless kit and i love it. It works great(waay better than the nair hair removal), better than everything else i've tried(mainly creams)!
i didn't start shaving till i was in 7th grade btw. I just couldn't take seeing other girls with hairless legs. If u r not in 7th grade, i'd wait b4 shaving. Don't be scared to. Shaving is a regular thing. you'll have to do it every couple of weeks. The hair won't stay away forever you know! shaving does not hurt at all. well, if u use the Veet Rasera Bladeless kit. I think it cost 7bucks.

shaving doesnt hurt but and you dont feel pain (unless you cut yourself) but the hair does grow back quicker, thicker and it gets more darker and its a pain cause you have to shave every other day (if you dunt like stubble) but i wax alot more than i shave because the hair doesnt get thicker (sometimes the hair get lighter and thinner if you wax alot) and the hair grow back in 1 week -4 weeks so you can try waxing until your actually ready to start shaving without being worried

It's not really a pain to have to keep up shaving, and it depends on who you are, it might get darker it might not, Don't be scared it's not really that big of a deal, just put some shaving cream on and shave. It's not a big deal at all!!! Good Luck, Hope this Helped!!

The whole thing with "new hair grows in thicker and darker" that's total BS....And please, DO shave your legs before the other you know what's start making fun of you, or making up a name like "Hair Bear" or "Sasquatch"...
Make sure you have a good razor--disposable is fine, but it cant have dull blades. Nice warm shower, then you're ready to go. I don't use regular shave cream, I use shampoo or even some conditioner--you only need a little to coat up the skin. Don't press too hard and be careful--a shaving cut HURTS !
