Yes! It has to be done with intent though. We speak our thoughts and in time they do become real. Most of the time people will say something positive than go on to say "....no that won't happen to me because I'm not lucky....I'm not fortunate...." They start dwelling on the negative stuff and that's exactly what they get. All the things that we think and say become us. It's even stronger when you say it aloud to yourself or somebody. Putting a thought into your mind and saying it instantly makes you think about it from every angle that you know of, even your feelings come into play whether you realize it or not. That thought that you just thought of and said, now has energy forming around it to become a potential idea of your making. It can go any direction but it's up to you to choose what you want to manifest from it. Look at it this way, from the moment you saw something you really wanted you started to think on it and told yourself that it was something you needed so you started to imagine ways to obtain it. You didn't have it yet but you knew that it would be yours and one day it ends up in your hands! Whether it was your car, your 50" plasma, your computer it was all something that you said to yourself first before it happened. The things that you say positively are stronger than the negative things so you don't have to be afraid of thinking the wrong thinking and saying the wrong thing into existence but control is hard and most people don't even realize their potential.

Words are very powerful...even thoughts. The things we say might not determine our future but it can greatly influence it. To get into it would take to long...but suffice it to say that words have energy, and that energy goes out into the ether's. What goes around comes around! Notice things next time you do a good deed or you say or think something really nasty about someone. Good things could come back to you or bad things. What people might say to you and what they think are two totally different things. ( i.e. I had made plans to go to Florida and I was telling everybody I knew... well everything that could go wrong on that trip did. Another time this friend of mine kept saying to everyone that he had a perfect driving record...within a year he got 4 different kinds of tickets.) What I am trying to say...maybe un-articulately, is that when you say something to alot of people they might say something nice but not think it...thus their thoughts and/or words have had an influence on the outcome of things.
I am not saying do not say anything to anybody, just be careful on who you say it too. Words, Thoughts are powerful. If you want good things to happen in your life wealth, health...try visualizing and meditate on it everyday. You'll be surprised at the outcome

I don't know if they determine our lives.
When I took my entrance exam for college,I thought they were going to tell me to go back to high school, that I was not college material.
Instead, they told me I was in the wrong office and had taken the wrong test to obtain a professorship, they were astounded when I informed them that I wanted to be a student, doubly so when they found out I had never been to college before and welcomed me with enthusiasm.
During my first semester, I told my mother that college scared me, she said that was normal, college is hard. I said "No, it's not, and that's what scares me."
I started out thinking I am a bumbling rube and ended up graduating with honors.
No, those words do not determine who we will become, but they are very useful in keeping us focused.

I believe it's true!!! When you tell yourself something over and over again you come to believe it. Believing is the first step to becoming reality. I always tell myself that I don't get sick and I only get a cold maybe once a year. I only get sick because I feel the sicknes and think about it too much! What we think can turn into fruition!

If you hear someone telling you constantly that you're stupid, it affects how you think and feel about yourself. The same goes for how you talk to yourself about youself, so yes, to an extent, our words do make us. Go ahead, encourage yourself!
